As promised...for my last blog post of the year, I am going out with a BANG!
Sit back and enjoy a beverage of your choice, because this may take a while!
I purchased this little guy from someone on EBay.
I was planning on using him for a display, but he was a lot smaller than I imagined.
My first one was with Kath at The Olde Weeping Cedar. I was on the hunt for pewter pieces for her, and this is what she made me...
My next swap was with Pam from Basketsnprims.
She asked me to be on the look out for some bowls that I could prim up for her. I delivered, and so did she!!
She weaved this key basket for me....
I have also been lucky enough to win 2 giveaways! I know!!! Two!!!! I was so so excited!
The first one was from Amy from http://www. irishcorkiesprimitives.blogspot.com
Thank you Amy for this great giveaway....I love it all!
Then I won another giveaway from Teresa from http://willowbendprims.blogspot.com/
The smells coming from the box were so wonderful!
The smells coming from the box were so wonderful!
I can still smell them lingering in my home as I am typing this.
Just look at all she packed in the box...
This was actually the "Grand Prize" box...she even drew two more names (and mine was the second name too! But, to be fair, she choose another one!)
Most of these boxes came in while I was out shopping at Kohl's...taking advantage of my extra 30% off coupon!
My daughter, Megan, called me on my cell phone while I was standing in line at the checkout, to tell me that I received a lot of packages in the mail. She wanted to know if she could open them! I said "Heck No!" That is like letting someone open your Christmas presents on Christmas morning....unheard of!
This is what I was purchasing at Kohl's...
I actually bought 3 of them! With my 30% off and a $10 rebate...they came out to $22 a piece.
I may save them, or give them as gifts!
Now onto my finds.
I will just let you scroll through these...
An already prim quilt rack...$3.99
An already prim quilt rack...$3.99
Future redo~
It is so heavy...and only $19.99 (I know, more than what I usually spend)
An old sled...$10
Won't this look awesome decorated for Christmas?

I finally put up my cupboard at the bottom of the steps...
Remember this Craigslist purchase?
Well, Joe and I are in the process of finishing up the surround with brick veneer...
I finally put up my cupboard at the bottom of the steps...
Do you recall this garage sale find for $3...
Hopefully I can get Joe to hang it up for me this coming weekend.
It reminds me of some of the ones I have seen in Irvin's. But a lot less costly!!
I found this sleigh after I ordered the reindeer...but before it arrived.

Now it looks like this...
Or with the top piece...
What a nice centerpiece it should make!
Here are some more goodies from GW...Someone must have been getting out of their prim phase, because there has been a lot there lately!

Wouldn't this make a great spice cabinet?
This will give me something to do over the winter!
I found two of these fall place mats...brand new from Target...but mine were from GW!
I thought that I could coffee dye them and use them as a table mat.
Vintage Pyrex...I love these things!

A pair of sage and tan valences...
Plate/Bowl rack...
Nice peg rack...

Here is my SCORE of the week!!
Look at the wear on this....perfection!

This was in between the Kohl's shopping trip. I stopped at the Habitat for Humanity Resale store. And I spotted it on the shelf....peed my pants...regained my composure, and tried to restore my dignity....then I grabbed it off the shelf, turned it over...and repeated the above scenario.
A little black spray paint...and voila!
Grubby candle to slip in somewhere...

I figured out why she was taking so long for her butt to dry out...she was weighted down with a sand bag!!!

All because the price was $1.50...Yeah...you read that right...One dollar and fifty cents!
YAHOO!
Recall these Tuscan beauties?

Some of you on my facebook recall me talking about cooking my goose. And I guess I did a post on blogspot too.
Here is what she looked like when I picked her up from GW....for only $1.80

And wet sand takes FOREVER to dry out!
Here she is with her bottom sewed up and in her rightful place!
When I found Chloe (that is what I named my goose!) I also picked up some Thanksgiving items....

You continue to amaze me with your lucky finds! That bowl is fantastic and I can't believe you got it $1.50. Either you have the most fantastic GW and thrift stores or you are very, very lucky. Wonderful finds, all of them. Love your new light fixture. It turned out great! Enjoy your time off, but I'll miss your posts. You should have lots to show us when you come back! Enjoy your holidays!
Awww Janene you are quite welcome =) That bowl you found wow WHAT A DEAL !!!!! Our habitat place is really pricey here. That bowl woulda probably been around 40.00 at ours. They had a light kinda like the one you redid in this post and it had a small crack that I thought I might be able to fix but they wanted 38.00 for it =( Anways loved seein' all your goodies !!! Wow,
I'm speechless ~ you were right about the candy, girl. Love your sign from Kath & I'm very happy you like the key basket. Greens would look great in it.
That bowl ~ I have your address & it just may come up missing, lol. I wouldn't touch it with paint or anything ~ it's perfect. All of your other finds & makeovers are fantastic. WTG!

Hey Janene, I want to go with you!I could just see it, we would be running into GW and fighting over
who saw it first!!! I am looking for an old set of kitchen scales, I don't want the newer kind with the pictures on the front, just an

Hi Janene,
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful eye candy. Great goodies as always!! I have that same goose, but mine does not have a heart on it. I redid her a bit a few years ago, but never baked her...maybe I should as I love how yours turned out.
I can hardly wait for my holiday shows to be over (have one in Lima on Saturday)...so that I can get back to my weekly thrift shopping. I have really missed it.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas...See ya in the new year.
hugs, Cindy
Omgosh, you did go out with a bang, but I am so gonna miss your humor. You totally crack me up. Love that wooden bowl and you found so many more wonderful goodies that my mind is just full of prim goodness and confusion. Oh and I absolutely love your re-finished light. It looks GREAT!! Can't wait to see it hanging up.
Janene, I always love your post and will miss you so much! I hope you enjoy your time away from blogging. I am trying to hang in there, although I know my posts have been pretty boring and downers lately. I'm trying to do better, though.
You will always be the Thrifting Queen!
Great eye candy! I will sure miss your posts while you are on "vacation", but will look forward to hearing from you at the first of the year. Hope your holiday season is filled with love and happiness! Dawn
Wow, Janene, you've really collected a ton of great things for your home :) That goose baking was something entirely new to me - it made her look so old and well-loved.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to hear from someone new!
Jacci

Hi first thanks for stopping by my blog and your prayers for my family. Now I can't believe all the good things you found. My husband is a pastor and we live in a very small parsonage. I'm finding alot of things too to re-do but the parsonage is running out of space. I don't quite know how to fix that one. That goose idea was fantastic. I would've never thought to do that. The lady looking for bowls - I find those all the time out here in Wisconsin. You can give my name to her if you want. Have a nice holiday season. Will you at least post christmas decorating at your house? It's my favorite time too.
Lisa
You got some great stuff!!!!! I think I would have peed my pants ; jumped up & down, & screamed whne I saw that bowl. It seems that your house is getting a complete makeover. Look forward to the pics!
Sure, we can do a swap....I will need your addy again, Amish harvest? How many? Anything else?
I have been meaning to get with you about your personal shopping.......
I started a collection of Pfalzgraff Folk art dishes so if you ever see any.....I will buy ..trade whatever! I don't need sugar and creamer...I have 2 sets of them.
Get back to me and I will get your house smelling right! raggedyangels@usa.com
Beth
Great stuff...and I am jealous AGAIN!!! I will miss you and your fun blogs too! Enjoy Every Moment!
I know you're not blogging for a while. Just wanted to stop by and wish you happy holidays! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.
